About the position

As an Electrical Design Engineer at IMEG Corp., you will be part of a dynamic team within one of the largest design consulting firms in the U.S. This position is designed for new graduates, with a start date in May 2025. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are crucial to the successful completion of electrical design projects. Your primary duties will include performing calculations, system design, equipment selections, and preparing reports and progress submittals. You will also provide Building Information Modeling (BIM) instructions to ensure that all projects meet IMEG's design standards and are completed within the allocated time and budget. In this role, you will design portions of electrical systems according to relevant codes and IMEG standards. You will research commercially available equipment and assist in maintaining good client relations. Your responsibilities will also include documenting design decisions, coordinating with other disciplines such as architectural and mechanical teams, and reviewing project documents for accuracy before final checks. Responsibilities

  • Design portions of a project related to electrical systems according to code and IMEG standards
  • Research resources for commercially available equipment
  • Assist with good client relations, project design notebook, and provide documentation for permanent record files
  • Assist with coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers
  • Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and instructions from client promptly while monitoring project design progress
  • Assist with review of all project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check
  • Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information
  • Review design methods, procedures, changes in scope, and client correspondence with the Lead Engineer
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and all other services as required by the contract services agreement
  • Other duties assigned

Requirements

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans and drawings
  • Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, and their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software and BIM
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Bachelor's Degree (Science) or equivalent
  • Electrical building systems design and/or knowledge of construction techniques a plus

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electrical building systems design
