About the position

The Electrical Design Engineer Specialist is a lead role focused on electrical engineering design for manufacturing buildings and facilities. This position requires extensive experience in the field, providing leadership and guidance to less experienced staff while managing a team. The role involves working on various electrical projects for commercial and industrial facilities, ensuring compliance with codes and standards, and interacting with clients and contractors to meet project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff members.
• Manage a team of electrical engineers and designers.
• Perform engineering calculations and conceptual design for electrical systems.
• Ensure code compliance and prepare electrical construction packages.
• Conduct construction cost estimating support and equipment specifications.
• Oversee designer work and perform quality reviews of design packages.
• Assist with complex portions of the design process directly.
• Interact with clients, owners, and contractors to assist with on-site construction.
• Work on electrical projects for various facilities including pharmaceutical and data centers.

Requirements

• At least 15 years of experience in electrical engineering design of manufacturing buildings/facilities within North America.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC).
• Ability to perform power system studies including short circuit, load flow, protective coordination, and arc flash.

Nice-to-haves

• Life Science and/or advanced manufacturing facility electrical design experience.
• Working knowledge of Revit or BIM software.
• Bachelor's or Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program (preferred, not required).
• Professional Engineer license (preferred, not required).
