About the position

Bowman is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in Towson, MD. This role involves performing all levels of electrical design, including the development of construction documents, while working in a supportive and collaborative environment that values professional growth and client service.

Responsibilities

• Receive general instruction on key objectives for execution and seek direction on difficult assignments.
• Assist with marketing the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships.
• Design electrical systems in accordance with current code requirements and sound engineering principles.
• Communicate effectively with engineers, project managers, and clients.
• Conduct field observation visits to document existing field conditions accurately.
• Organize and prioritize multiple tasks to complete designs efficiently.
• Complete electrical calculations including load studies, voltage drop, and generator sizing.
• Design and layout electrical system devices and distribution components as applicable to the project type.
• Produce project construction documents to meet milestone schedules within budget.
• Attend coordination and design meetings as needed.
• Assist with project specifications and budget construction cost estimating.
• Address comments from clients and adjust designs accordingly.
• Review project-related construction administrative items if directed.
• Work within established project budgets.
• Develop a working knowledge of all applicable codes and software tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related engineering discipline required at time of employment.
• Entry level position, no prior experience required; any professional experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT software, SKM software tools, and/or Lighting Design software preferred.
• EIT and LEED accreditation preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Progress toward or plans to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of SKM software tools and Lighting Design software (i.e., AGI, Visual, etc.).
• Professional experience in electrical design.
