About the position

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the company with the design of complex electrical systems. This position requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including architectural clients and building owners. You will be responsible for preparing both 2D and 3D construction documents using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD and Revit. Additionally, you will prepare necessary documentation and calculations for the LEED certification process, ensuring that projects meet sustainability standards. Your role will involve coordinating design efforts with in-house disciplines, which requires excellent communication and teamwork skills. You will also be tasked with diagnosing problems that arise during the design and construction phases and proposing effective solutions. Planning the project production process is another key responsibility, as is performing critical studies such as short circuit analysis, overcurrent protective device coordination, and arc flash studies. Lighting calculations will also be part of your duties, ensuring that all designs meet the required specifications and standards. Furthermore, you will perform contract administration duties, which include conducting site visits, reviewing submittals, and providing assistance to contractors. This multifaceted role demands a proactive approach and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Support the company with the design of complex Electrical systems.
  • Prepare 2 and 3-dimensional construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Prepare documents and calculations for the LEED certification process.
  • Coordinate design efforts working closely with in-house disciplines, architectural clients, and building owners.
  • Diagnose problems and propose solutions.
  • Plan project production process.
  • Perform short circuit, overcurrent protective device coordination and arc flash studies.
  • Perform lighting calculations.
  • Perform contract administration duties of site visits, submittal review and contractor assistance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • EIT required, PE beneficial
  • LEED Accredited Professional (APBD+C) beneficial
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
  • Four years experience in the Electrical consulting business (large systems), including power and lighting
  • Laboratory and/or healthcare design experience a plus.
