The Electrical Design Engineer will play a crucial role in planning and executing R&D projects focused on Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear and control-gear products. This position is integral to the digital transformation initiative within Schneider Electric's Medium Voltage offerings. The engineer will be responsible for designing network architecture, implementing various communications protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, and SCADA, and utilizing human-machine interfaces (HMI) and programmable logic controllers (PLC). The role requires effective communication with cross-functional teams, ensuring that engineering designs align with broader organizational goals. In this position, the Electrical Design Engineer will be accountable for designing power electronic solutions, power devices, and associated control and gate/base drive circuits. The engineer will prepare sketches and electric schematic diagrams, working independently while exercising judgment to develop designs with minimal supervision. The role emphasizes collaboration within a diverse team environment, as well as the ability to work independently. The engineer will also become adept in Lean Agile practices and team processes, contributing to a global team effort. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Candidates with a Mechanical Engineering degree or similar experience in electrical network design will also be considered. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing electrical circuit and wiring diagrams, knowledge of instrumentation and controls, and an understanding of modern protective relays. Additionally, familiarity with computer programming languages is essential. The engineer will assist in verifying designs against performance requirements, participate in test planning and results analysis, and provide feedback to improve component and assembly designs. This role also involves interfacing with manufacturing organizations to ensure optimized component development and maintaining comprehensive documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
