About the position

The Electrical Design Engineer will be part of the Electrical Power Systems (EPS) team at ANDRITZ Hydropower North America, focusing on the design and support of hydroelectric field projects. This role involves collaboration with other engineers and drafters to ensure the successful execution of projects, contributing to sustainable technology and clean energy solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate and design conduit and cable routes.
  • Develop detailed electrical schematics and layouts.
  • Modify and revise designs.
  • Conduct electrical tests for Current Transformers (CTs) and Potential Transformers (PTs).
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Select appropriate electrical equipment such as Motor Control Centers (MCCs), breakers, and other components.
  • Evaluate and recommend equipment based on project requirements and specifications.
  • Select instruments such as RTDs, pressure/level transducers, thermal relays, and others.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects within budget and scope.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in electrical design and engineering.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in using design software such as Electrical AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NEMA, NETA, and other industry codes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues.
  • Analytical skills to assess and optimize electrical systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy in design and calculations.
