The Electrical Design Engineer will perform and be involved in the design, implementation, validation, and documentation of board level hardware circuits and products. This position will be onsite at Vertiv's Delaware, Ohio facility. The role requires a strong background in hardware board/product development, with a focus on leading development projects or activities in an area of scientific or engineering specialty. The successful candidate will contribute to and direct the development of new product opportunities for Vertiv, working closely with contract resources and/or manufacturers for prototype and production board builds. In this position, the engineer will analyze tradeoffs such as cost and time to market for elements of a design. Proficiency in writing functional requirements and documenting designs is essential. The role involves collaboration with other groups, including hardware, firmware, software, system test, customer support, and manufacturing. The ability to analyze and solve technical issues with limited or no supervision is crucial, as is experience with Mentor or other schematic capture tools. A demonstrated knowledge of high-speed signal layout and analog design is required, along with experience using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other debugging tools. The Electrical Design Engineer must be capable of handling multiple projects and tasks concurrently while executing on schedules for hardware board development lifecycles. Debugging, validating, and developing/supporting manufacturing tests on board level products are key responsibilities. Experience in design for testability and manufacturability, as well as compliance and testing requirements including ESD and EMI, is necessary. A background in datacenter equipment hardware is a plus. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as the engineer will represent Engineering in technical meetings with Vertiv departments and external stakeholders. Additionally, the role includes responsibilities for site preparation, buildable area, water retention, and controlling expenditures in accordance with established budgets. The engineer will also provide support to the South Point facility and assist in construction and project schedule development and adherence.
