About the position
The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and managing electrical projects for large industrial machines and equipment. This role involves interpreting customer specifications, performing calculations, and designing control panels, while also providing technical support to service technicians. The position requires collaboration with customers and oversight of projects from concept to completion, including occasional travel to customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret electrical diagrams.
- Design electrical schematics and panel layout drawings using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
- Create electrical bills of materials using AutoCAD Electrical and Excel.
- Develop PID schematics.
- Program electronic controllers for pressure, temperature, radar devices, etc.
- Work with PLCs.
- Provide electrical technical support to parts and service technicians, and other company personnel.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree with 8+ years of experience or a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and AutoCAD Electrical.
- Familiarity with the National Electric Code NFPA 70.
- Experience in designing and troubleshooting 3-phase, 600-volt power systems.
- Experience in designing and building control panels.
- Ability to perform voltage drop calculations and sizing conductors.
- Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and soft starters.
- Ability to perform arc flash calculations.
