About the position

The Electrical Designer/Drafter is responsible for creating and reviewing wiring schematics, layout diagrams, and Bills of Materials to support customer submittal packages, fabrication, and equipment installation. This role involves preparing designs of electrical control systems for mechanized Parkson/MRI products and participating in the preparation of project documentation to assist with Supply Chain activities.

Responsibilities

  • Use Computer Aided Design and Drafting systems to prepare drawings for customer approval and fabrication.
  • Assemble document packages and develop drawing sets, component specifications, and BOMs for review by electrical engineers and/or customers.
  • Prepare drafts of wiring diagrams, working drawings, and wiring connection specifications.
  • Review customer specifications, interpret requirements, and provide support for proposal preparation and project implementation.
  • Interface with Purchasing to communicate specification requirements and support vendor communications, product changes, and pre-ordering.
  • Interface with Planning and Panel Shop personnel to ensure proper communication of design requirements and receive feedback on manufacturability.
  • Interface with installation personnel to communicate requirements and assist with installation/construction issues, including preparation and/or review of Installation, Operations, and Maintenance manuals.
  • Maintain all Engineering documentation in Autodesk Vault.
  • Participate in the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process internally and with customer change orders.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to design parts and derive practical solutions to project issues.
  • Balance workload and schedule with engineering management guidance to ensure timely production of fabrication drawings.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Computer Aided Design or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2+ years' experience in electrical design.
  • Experience with design of PLC based control systems (preferred).
  • Experience with UL 508A and CE requirements (preferred).
  • Experience with process and instrumentation hardware implementation.
  • Panel building, testing, and troubleshooting experience (preferred).

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient with AutoCAD.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to analyze unique job requirements and change standard design as needed.
