About the position

The Electrical Designer is responsible for creating and designing electrical systems for various projects, ensuring compliance with safety codes and regulations. This role involves close collaboration with engineers to develop electrical plans and utilize CAD software for detailed drawings and schematics. The designer also assists in selecting electrical components and provides technical support during manufacturing and installation phases.

Responsibilities

• Create specific point-to-point wiring diagrams and back pan layouts for electrical switchgear, motor control, and power control rooms.
• Design custom/semi-custom products to meet customer electrical specifications.
• Produce print-to-point wiring diagrams from control schemes.
• Check wiring diagrams for accuracy.
• Gain familiarity with electrical design and circuitry.
• Familiarize with industry codes and standards.
• Create basic design drawings with assistance from engineering personnel.
• Update drawings per engineering and/or customer markups and transmit them to shop and customer.
• Complete 'As Built' drawings to learn about drawing packages.
• Attend in-house and outside training sessions.
• Learn policies and procedures, work instructions, ISO policies, Safety Rules and Regulations, and vendor products.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or GED.
• 0-3 years of experience in an Engineering/Designing role.
• Basic computer skills using Oracle, Word, Excel.
• Ability to order material electronically.
• Basic drafting/CAD skills.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical symbols, characters, and drawings.
• Knowledge of NEC, ANSI, and other relevant codes as applicable to daily activities.
