About the position

Wilson Engineers is an Arizona-based firm with a staff of more than 180 personnel specializing in water and wastewater engineering and construction management services. We are dedicated to delivering ethical, reliable, high-quality services to our clients based on innovation, while sustaining a challenging and rewarding work environment for our greatest assets, our employees. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to join our team. This position requires 40 hours per week on-site in our Tempe, AZ office. (This position on-site and is not hybrid nor remote.)

Responsibilities

  • Proficient in the design of low voltage power distribution systems and lighting systems, including single-line diagrams, panel schedules, power plans, lighting plans, control schematics, conduit block diagrams, and installation details.
  • Proficient in the design of industrial control systems, including network architecture diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams and communications riser diagrams.
  • Proficient in completing engineering calculations, including load summaries, breaker sizes, conduit and wire sizing, voltage drop, and fault current.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and AutoCAD software.
  • Good understanding of the NFPA 70E National Electrical Code.
  • Strong ability to work independently and efficiently on small to medium electrical and control system design projects.
  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs and control descriptions.
  • Experience in construction administration, field inspection, start-up and commissioning.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in electrical engineering technology required, or a minimum of five (5) years of experience producing Electrical Instrumentation and Controls (EI&C) Contract Drawing packages in AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code
  • 3 Years or more electrical and industrial controls engineering experience in Water/Wastewater industry is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with 3D modelling and BIM development environments such as Revit is a plus
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting power system studies. Experience modeling electrical distribution systems with SKM software a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of NFPA 70E and NFPA 820.
  • Proficient in the design of P&IDs and communication network architectures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
