About the position

HGA is seeking an Electrical Designer to join our team in Sacramento, San Diego, San Jose, or San Francisco. This role involves collaborating with architectural and engineering teams to design and produce construction documents for various projects across the country. The position emphasizes accuracy, clarity, and constructability in electrical design, contributing to the overall quality and innovation of our projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the guidance of the Project Engineer in the design of project solutions and construction documents.
  • Perform calculations for electrical designs including heating and cooling loads, lighting calculations, and power distribution calculations.
  • Conduct and coordinate electrical engineering design work within the engineering group and integrated project teams.
  • Resolve complex problems related to design requirements, code issues, and varying design options.
  • Provide drawings for designs using Revit software.
  • Research design options and document findings for the Project Engineer.
  • Assist the Project Engineer with specifications, shop drawings, and code issues.
  • Ensure that drawings and designs comply with design standards.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with team members.
  • Keep the Project Manager informed of workload and project changes.
  • Provide project management and administration assistance to Project Engineers.

Requirements

  • A BS degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with an architectural engineering focus.
  • EIT or ability to obtain PE registration in the near future is desired but not required.
  • 0 - 4 years of experience in the design of lighting, power, and communications systems for various project types.
  • Documented experience with a consulting engineering firm or A/E firm providing electrical design.
  • Proficiency with Revit software and excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with electrical analysis software (e.g., SKM, Easy Power) and knowledge of sustainable technologies applicable to electrical design.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
