About the position

The Electrical Designer will collaborate with Design & Engineering teams, line of business customers, outside vendors, and project management staff to create CAD designs, detail drawings, and documentation for various projects. This role involves producing electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical details for attractions, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards while managing multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and participate in project design reviews.
  • Determine the correct form of documentation required for proper releases (e.g. Acceptance Test Procedures [ATP], and Operational Test Procedures [OTP]).
  • Release and design control procedures using Engineering Communication Forms (ECF) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO).
  • Conduct electrical/electronic and mechanical design and drafting.
  • Perform research of background and historical data to identify project requirements and develop design solutions.
  • Research and select proper materials, processes, and vendors for design projects.
  • Ensure drawings comply with applicable codes, legislation, and regulatory requirements as well as internal and industry standards.
  • Review design packages with vendors and shops for conformance with design documentation.
  • Work with Engineers and Document Management staff to ensure as-built drawings and other project documentation are properly detailed and submitted into the electronic data management system (EDMS).
  • Showcase expertise in the latest trends across new technologies and best practices regarding designs, materials, and products.

Requirements

  • Three (3) or more years of experience generating electrical controls designs in a multi‐discipline, technical, team environment.
  • Exceptional AutoCAD and Eplan experience (professional training and/or certification).
  • Solid engineering and electrical/mechanical design skills, including manufacturing practices and processes.
  • Knowledge of materials (metals, composites, plastics), welding, finish processes, ASME standards (Y14 and Y14.5), and engineering documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and balance multiple projects/assignments & priorities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, problem solving, analytical, time management, and organization skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, including executive staff.
  • Aptitude to quickly learn computer software packages.
  • Ability to work independently on programs and projects as well as within a team environment, seeking guidance/approval with ongoing communication.
  • Flexibility with scheduling, including the ability to work weekends, nights, holidays, and variable shifts, including overtime.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years' experience in a theme park design environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • GD&T professional training and/or certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
