About the position

H2M architects + engineers is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Windsor, Connecticut. This position is integral to our mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering team, where we prioritize the development of detailed, quality drawings that meet the full scope of work established with our clients. Our engineers are dedicated to ensuring that every aspect of the electrical systems we design—ranging from power distribution to lighting, communication, and security systems—is executed with precision and care. In this role, you will collaborate with a multi-disciplined design team, including architects, civil engineers, and environmental scientists, to execute electrical engineering design work for both public and private clients. You will be responsible for coordinating the efforts of both in-house and external teams, ensuring that all aspects of power generation, distribution, low voltage, lighting, communication, fire alarm, and security system design are seamlessly integrated. Responsibilities

  • Oversight of design in the design of electrical systems such as power distribution, stand-by power generation, lighting, communication, fire alarm, and security systems.
  • Grow, develop, and supervise a group of Electrical Engineers in project design and development tasks, including drawings, calculations, cost estimates, and specifications.
  • Respond to client questions and comments, review contractor submittals, and provide clarifications during construction.
  • Oversee and review electrical department design documents for completion and ensure adherence to accepted industry and company standards.
  • Assist in the development of company quality standards and procedures in collaboration with the QA/QC team.
  • Work with the MEP management team to develop and implement electrical short- and long-range manpower and production plans to meet project objectives.
  • Assist in cultivating business development initiatives to pursue new projects, including participation in client presentations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • 10-15+ years of experience with a consulting engineering firm designing building power, lighting, communication, and security systems.
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of the architectural and engineering industry, including relevant Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.
  • Must be a licensed NJ Professional Engineer (NY PE a plus).
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience using Outlook and Microsoft Office (or similar software).
  • LEED Accreditation and working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and EasyPower desired.
  • Prior experience supervising staff.
  • Experience with HVAC and plumbing systems is a plus.
