The Distribution Engineer will be responsible for developing design and construction work packages for electrical overhead distribution systems, focusing on system reliability and improvement. This role involves reviewing client-provided work, performing fieldwork, and ensuring compliance with safety codes while collaborating with clients and quality control teams.

  • Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead distribution systems.
  • Improve system consistency by replacing or upgrading equipment.
  • Review and assess client-provided work scopes.
  • Perform fieldwork including taking photos and measurements of specific sites or circuits.
  • Create designs using Open Utilities, a MicroStation-based CAD system.
  • Conduct energy analysis to ensure selected materials meet site requirements.
  • Create a Bill of Materials (BOM) to be entered in SAP/Material Tracking Software.
  • Assist with permits for utility lines crossing roads, easements, private property, or tree removal.
  • Submit electrical construction packages for approval and make revisions as needed.
  • Use Poleforman or similar software for structural analysis and wood pole integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with National Electric Safety Codes (NESC).
  • Collaborate with Quality Control approvers for necessary changes before final submission.
  • Communicate frequently with clients via email, phone, and Teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology (ME/EE).
  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Catia, MicroStation.
  • Knowledge of National Electric Safety Codes (NESC).
  • Experience with electric distribution design or engineering.
  • Strong understanding of distribution construction & design standards.
  • Experience in QA/Quality Assurance or QC/Quality Control.
  • Experience with Poleforman, Pole Loading Analysis, Katapault, or similar software.
  • Experience in training new employees and writing process standards.
  • Entry-level candidates or designers with an associate's degree or relevant distribution or utility experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Pay range of $25.00 - $33.00 per hour.
  • Support for continuous growth and preparation for FE and PE exams.
