About the position

The Electrical Distribution Engineer position at Guernsey involves planning and designing electrical distribution systems, from initial feasibility studies to detailed design and installation. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with various stakeholders, including clients and engineering teams, while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform distribution planning and design from conceptual studies to installation and startup phases.
• Conduct Long Range Plans, Construction Work Plans, and Coordination Studies for electric distribution cooperatives.
• Design and install new and modified overhead and underground distribution facilities.
• Utilize Milsoft's WindMil and Light Table software for engineering analysis.
• Prepare settings for distribution reclosers and breakers.
• Conduct Periodic Work Order Inspections.
• Develop and maintain technical standards for distribution work.
• Plan and coordinate utility relocations.
• Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
• Prepare written technical documents such as planning reports and design specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in distribution design and planning.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or the expectation to obtain one.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in transmission design using PLSCAD.
• Experience in substation design.
• Knowledge of distributed generation interconnect studies and system impact studies.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and ESRI software.
