About the position

ASI is seeking experienced electrical drafter/CAD Designers and Operators capable of developing and updating 2D drawings and 3D CAD models to support US DoD projects in Patuxent River, MD. The role involves a variety of tasks that are critical to the successful execution of electrical design projects. Candidates will be responsible for preparing detailed wiring diagrams, circuit board assembly diagrams, and layout drawings that are essential for the manufacture, installation, or repair of wires and electrical equipment. Additionally, the position requires the preparation of drawings and diagrams that document the electrical functionality and the physical layout of installations. Utilizing established drawing and 3D modeling standards and instructions such as MIL-STD-31000A, ASME Y.14.100-2013, NAVAIRINST 5600.14E, and AS 9100D is a key aspect of this role. The successful candidate will rely on their experience and judgment to effectively plan and accomplish project goals, ensuring that all deliverables meet the required specifications and standards. This position is ideal for individuals who are self-motivated and capable of working independently while also possessing strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update 2D drawings and 3D CAD models
• Prepare wiring diagrams, circuit board assembly diagrams, and layout drawings
• Prepare drawings/diagrams to be used for the manufacture, installation, or repair of wires and electrical equipment
• Prepare drawings/diagrams to document the electrical functionality, as well as the physical layout of the installation
• Utilize drawing and 3D modeling standards and instructions such as MIL-STD-31000A, ASME Y.14.100-2013, NAVAIRINST 5600.14E, AS 9100D, etc.
• Rely on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals

Requirements

• 3+ years of work experience developing 2D and 3D models and drawings
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of trade or technical school, or undergraduate or military school course in drafting, mechanical drawing, or engineering drawing
• 5+ years of experience in performing the stated functions may be substituted for post-high school education/training
• Familiarity with drawing standards and instructions such as MIL-STD-31000A, ASME Y.14.100-2013, NAVAIRINST 5600.14E, AS 9100D
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, PTC CREO, WindChill, or similar CAD software
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro and Microsoft 365 applications to include, Project, Office, SharePoint, and Teams
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Associate degree in Drafting or Engineering Technology with 3+ years of work experience developing 2D and 3D models and drawings
