About the position

The Electrical Engineer in Training (EIT) position at HDR is designed for new or recent electrical engineering graduates to join the Northern California Hydropower Engineering team. This role focuses on supporting hydropower generation clients in achieving their clean energy goals through various engineering tasks, including electrical design analysis, document review, and field construction support. The position involves a rotational assignment across multiple locations in Northern California, providing exposure to diverse hydropower projects and promoting career growth.

Responsibilities

• Conduct analyses to develop electrical design options or recommendations.
• Review engineering documents and drafts, providing revisions as necessary.
• Provide field construction support and assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications.
• Perform routine electrical engineering assignments supporting hydropower generation clients.
• Work independently on small projects or assist senior engineers on larger projects.
• Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
• Strong computer skills using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI, and EasyPower.
• Desire to pursue growth opportunities and obtain registration.
• Previous internship experience beneficial.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program.
• Prior internships/co-op experience in power, utilities, hydropower, renewable energy, and/or construction industries.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Openness to being mentored by Senior Engineers and Hydropower Subject Matter Experts.
