About the position

Leidos Maritime System Solutions is seeking an Electrical/Electronic Design Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team at the Naval Information Warfare Center, Pacific. This role involves the development, manufacture, and testing of electro-mechanical devices for uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs) and other maritime applications. The engineer will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team throughout all project phases, including design, implementation, integration, and testing of components and subsystems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and deliver uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs) to meet system performance requirements.
  • Design, implement, and integrate components and subsystems into UUV platforms.
  • Conduct laboratory-based testing and operations at sea, including post-test analysis and reporting of performance results.
  • Prepare focused technical documentation, contract deliverables, and briefing materials.

Requirements

  • Experience working in small teams to develop solutions and deliver products.
  • Working knowledge of analog and digital circuit design.
  • Working knowledge of PCB design, fabrication, and testing.
  • Experience with low-power microcontrollers using C/C++ programming.
  • Experience with Programmable Logic (CPLD & FPGA), preferably in VHDL.
  • Working knowledge of signal analysis using Python or MATLAB.
  • Experience with PC-based data acquisition.
  • Basic experience with Linux and system programming.
  • Experience analyzing experimental data.
  • Strong technical writing skills for reports and briefing materials.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or relevant technical discipline.
  • Currently hold a Secret clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using NI LabView and NI Measurement Studio.
  • Experience with Altium Designer.
  • Experience with UUV systems and operations.
  • Experience with at-sea test and evaluation (T&E) including operations onboard small craft and large ships.
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or relevant technical discipline.
