About the position

The Electrical/Electronic Engineer will work with both local and international partners to design and implement machine controls for advanced technology production lines. This role involves leading complex systems and projects, ensuring compliance with engineering practices and safety standards, and supporting various control systems and manufacturing monitoring systems. The engineer will also be responsible for project funding planning and tracking, as well as promoting continuous improvements within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Work with local & international partners to design and implement machine controls for production lines.
  • Participate in planning and leading complex systems and projects, including vendor research and selection, creating technical specifications, and scheduling installations.
  • Lead the controls portion of internal or external projects.
  • Ensure engineering practices comply with government regulations and safety standards.
  • Implement and support hardware and software for PLC, CNC, and HMI controls.
  • Implement and support device level networks and servo/VFD hardware and software.
  • Support manufacturing monitoring systems with emphasis on interfacing to higher-level systems.
  • Independently apply processes and standards to project needs and progress.
  • Responsible for funding planning and tracking of complex projects based on company standards.
  • Proactively manage spending plans to meet cost targets.
  • Identify project shortfalls and develop counter-measures and resolutions.
  • Utilize appropriate project management tools for tasks.
  • Lead project teams with various stakeholders including production and maintenance.
  • Promote continuous improvements and implement market screenings.
  • Schedule time according to established job priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in controls engineering.
  • Experience using Siemens controls.
  • Experience in manufacturing controls equipment hardware and software design practices and standards.
  • Experience using PC hardware and Microsoft Windows in a networked plant floor environment.
  • Experience in a project lead role.
  • Ability to travel, including international (~10%).
  • Ability to articulate technical information in written and oral communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to oversee activities of tradesmen and/or contractors.
  • Ability to provide technical support to Operations, Maintenance, and other functional groups.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Project management or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Global project experience preferred.
  • Ability to identify basic problems and procedural irregularities, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions preferred.
  • Experience with new product launches or machine retrofits preferred.
  • Experience with organizing shop floor management meetings preferred.
  • AutoCAD experience with controls related drawings preferred.
