About the position

The Electrical & Electronic Hardware Intern position at International Motors is designed for students pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields. This 12-week summer internship focuses on supporting the development of electrical modules and components, particularly for electric and autonomous vehicles. Interns will collaborate with various departments to gather design requirements, assist in component validation, and engage with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components from concept to production.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate cross functionally with many departments to collect and document component design requirements.
  • Support component development from initial concepts through design, validation, and launch into production.
  • Generate ideas through benchmarking for cost reduction, new programs, and quality improvement.
  • Interface with suppliers for component development and track overall timing to align with programming milestones.
  • Support manufacturing, customer service, dealer, and customer base with field issues as components move into production.
  • Provide support to other engineering departments regarding electrical component development and validation.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum required cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Positive attitude and ethics that align with the company's values.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electrical component development for the commercial truck market.
  • Experience with SAE J1455, J1113, and ISO26262 standards.
  • Experience with engineering and quality practices such as dFMEA, 8D, ISO standards, Lean, DFSS.
  • Experience with oscilloscope and voltmeter usage.
  • Experience with packaging studies and 3D data reviews.
  • Familiarity with Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Projects, and Jira.
  • Previous internships or work experience in a related field.

Benefits

  • Hourly pay ranging from $24 to $38 based on year in school.
