About the position

This early career Electrical Engineering position at GE Vernova provides an excellent opportunity for individuals to enhance their skills as part of a dynamic product development team. The team is multi-disciplinary, encompassing various engineering domains such as System Engineering, Electrical System and Power Conversion Design, Mechanical Design, Control Hardware Design, Grid Regulation coordination, Software Design, and Integration/Test. The primary focus of this role is to validate concepts through scientific and engineering methodologies, demonstrating the performance and implementation potential of innovative ideas through rigorous testing and analysis. As a member of this team, you will assist Senior Engineers in developing and implementing new designs and improvements. Your responsibilities will include executing and documenting subsystem and component validation test plans, evaluating power circuit protection and coordination, and participating in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), risk assessment, and root cause analysis activities. You will also provide technical clarifications of designs in collaboration with suppliers, manufacturing, and services teams, ensuring that components are tested and qualified for production while resolving any issues that may arise to maintain product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Senior Engineers to develop and implement new designs and design improvements
  • Execute and document subsystem and component validation test plans
  • Evaluate power circuit protection and coordination
  • Participate in FMEA, risk assessment, and root cause analysis activities
  • Provide technical clarification of designs with suppliers, manufacturing, and services teams
  • Test and qualify components for production, and resolve issues as needed to maintain product quality

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or related discipline
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution, power electronics, or control system design

  • Familiarity with instrumentation and measurement of power converters
  • Familiarity with Arc Flash analysis (EasyPower or SKM) and testing
  • Helpful technical skills: Electronics lab instruments (Oscilloscope, power supplies), Matlab, C/C++, SPICE simulation, PCB schematic & layout tools, 3 phase system analysis, protection coordination & selection (fuses, breakers), component & conductor sizing & selection
