About the position

The Electrical Engineer position is a 6-month contract role with a major defense contractor, focusing on the development, testing, fabrication, and fielding of complex military equipment. The role requires candidates to be US Citizens or Permanent Residents, and it is primarily on-site in Fridley, MN. There is a good chance of renewal or direct hire after the contract period. The position involves working under the direction of a project engineering lead and requires a combination of technical skills and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Research, plan, design, develop, modify, and evaluate electronic and electrical systems and components.
  • Utilize advanced modeling and analysis tools for product development.
  • Develop product specifications, models, simulations, technical data packages, and integration and verification procedures.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities and technologies to ensure they can deliver required products or services.
  • Work under the direction of a project engineering lead to perform electrical system design for military systems.
  • Provide detailed engineering analysis of components, subsystems, and systems for military product applications.

Requirements

  • 1+ year(s) of relevant experience with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with analog and digital circuit design and analysis.
  • Experience developing technical documentation such as drawings, reports, and technical analysis.
  • Ability to solve moderately complex technical design and development problems.
  • Experience in creating, reading, and comprehending schematics and interconnect drawings.
  • Ability to create and manage interface control documents.
  • Ability to perform circuit simulation (PSpice or LTspice).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to convey data, information, and technical results.

Nice-to-haves

  • Hands-on troubleshooting of circuits using oscilloscopes and multimeters.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Simulink, PSpice, LabVIEW, and Test Stand.
  • Working knowledge of OrCAD and Visio.
  • Experience with the engineering design of wiring harnesses and cable assemblies for military systems.
  • Experience programming National Instruments test equipment using LabVIEW and Test Stand.
