About the position

As an Electrical Engineer 3 at Black & Veatch Corporation, you will play a crucial role in the design and execution of electrical engineering projects, particularly focusing on high voltage substations. Your responsibilities will include preparing a variety of medium complex technical drawings such as one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, and equipment wiring diagrams. You will utilize computer-assisted engineering or design software to perform essential calculations, including ampacity/derating, battery sizing, and voltage drop, adhering to established standards and principles. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will confer with engineers, clients, and other stakeholders to discuss existing or potential engineering projects, ensuring that all aspects of the project align with client expectations and technical requirements. In addition to technical drawing preparation, you will manage assigned budgets, schedules, and quality requirements, serving as a team lead to review the work of lower-level engineers involved in substation designs. Your role will also involve coordinating with other disciplines to ensure seamless project execution. Quality assurance is a significant part of your responsibilities, as you will perform quality verifications (QA/QC) for electrical drawings and calculations before they are issued for construction. You will also review vendor drawings and provide estimates for manhours, schedules, and costs for proposals. As a mentor, you will guide less experienced professionals, fostering their growth and development within the company. This position requires a proactive approach to maintaining accurate and up-to-date technical documents while engaging with suppliers and vendors to address any technical issues that may arise.
