About the position

The Electrical Engineer 3 at United Rotorcraft is responsible for overseeing and leading the engineering team in the creation, verification, and distribution of electrical and avionics engineering work products. This role involves collaboration with various teams, including manufacturing and supply chain, to ensure the successful production and delivery of designed products. The engineer will also work closely with government regulators and auditors on military programs, and will be a key leader in developing and administering work plans.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new electrical and avionics design concepts.
  • Analyze new designs/concepts and communicate them to the customer and other functional organizations.
  • Provide technical support to the Project Engineer or Customer Experience Manager regarding project deliverables and overall project status.
  • Develop and design electrical power supply requirements at a system level to support STC's and Field Approvals.
  • Modify existing off-the-shelf products to comply with company needs and produce documentation of modifications.
  • Support design modifications, Engineering Change Orders, general analysis, hardware testing, and prototype development.
  • Develop Project Logistics Plans and support design reviews and meetings as required.
  • Prepare supplemental design information related to the product, including cost estimates, safety assessments, and test plans/reports.
  • Assist with preparation and coordination of documents and technical issues related to certification of ODA and/or FAA STC projects.
  • Assist in installation activities and draft wiring diagrams and harness fabrication documents for aircraft installations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering from a four-year college or university.
  • 10+ years of related experience and/or training in electrical engineering or avionics systems.
  • Understanding of FAA certification processes, aircraft operations, and electrical/communication and navigation systems.
  • Ability to interpret and use aircraft manufacturer's maintenance manuals and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate at all levels.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Prior technical knowledge and experience in AutoCAD is strongly preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certificate of Designation as DER for the appropriate Electrical Engineering regulations is preferred.
