About the position

Navarro Research and Engineering is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Idaho Falls, ID. As a federal contractor, we are dedicated to advancing clean energy and providing effective solutions for complex challenges in the nuclear and environmental sectors. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for maintaining knowledge and oversight of electrical systems, particularly focusing on low to medium voltage electrical equipment. This role requires a thorough understanding of the National Electric Code and NFPA70E requirements, ensuring compliance and safety in all engineering practices. In this position, the Electrical Engineer will be assigned to Structures, Systems, and Components (SSCs) and will act as the Technical Authority for system design requirements, performance criteria, and maintenance. The engineer will maintain a comprehensive System Engineering notebook that includes vendor technical information, standards references, lessons learned, and a history of repairs and modifications. This documentation is crucial for supporting maintenance and operations activities, reviewing and approving work orders, and ensuring that all technical information in documents is accurate and representative of the assigned systems. The Electrical Engineer will also be involved in training activities related to assigned systems and will review and approve changes to documentation, ensuring that all modifications comply with company-level procedures. This role is essential for maintaining proper configuration management for assigned systems, including design changes and commercial grade dedication determinations. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the operational integrity and reliability of electrical systems within our projects.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a System Engineering notebook or equivalent electronic file cabinet including vendor technical information, standards references, lessons learned, and system history of repairs.
  • Support maintenance and operations activities performed on assigned systems.
  • Review and approve Work Orders associated with assigned systems.
  • Support training associated with assigned systems.
  • Review and approve changes to documentation (drawings, procedures, system descriptions, etc.) associated with assigned systems.
  • Ensure proper configuration management for assigned systems, including design changes and use-as-is determinations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of low to medium voltage electrical equipment.
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code and NFPA70E requirements.
  • Experience in maintaining technical documentation and configuration management for electrical systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the nuclear or environmental fields.
  • Familiarity with federal contracting processes and standards.
