About the position

The Electrical Engineer 3 position is designed for a project engineer who will take on technical responsibilities for planning and executing various technical projects or phases of projects. This role is critical in ensuring that all engineering work adheres to established standards, guidelines, and methods within the electrical engineering discipline. The engineer will be tasked with establishing design criteria for electrical and electronic systems and will provide guidance and evaluation for facility projects. In this role, the engineer will conduct specialized work related to high voltage electrical distribution systems, which includes performing electrical system load and short-circuit studies, as well as working on instrumentation and control systems. The engineer will also be involved in the design and implementation of power and lighting systems, fire detection systems, cathodic protection systems, and isolated and emergency power systems, among other unique electrical and electronic systems. Coordination is a key aspect of this position, as the engineer will work closely with technical support personnel, drafters, technical writers, and electronic technicians to ensure project success. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for developing and recommending design approaches for new and improved products or processes, and will conduct independent technical investigations that may involve the origination or modification of material, component, or process specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with established standards, guides, precedents, methods, and techniques within discipline.
  • Establishes electrical and electronic engineering design criteria and provides guidance and evaluation for facility projects.
  • Conduct work in specialty for high voltage electrical distribution systems; electrical system load and short-circuit studies; instrumentation, and control systems; power and lighting systems, fire detection systems, cathodic protection systems, isolated and emergency power systems, and other unique electrical / electronic systems.
  • Coordinate efforts of technical support personnel, drafters, technical writers and electronic technicians.
  • Develop and recommend design approaches for new and improved products and or processes.
  • Conduct independent technical investigation involving the origination or modification of material, component or process specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
  • Five (5) years of job-related experience in electrical engineering and design required.
