About the position

GovCIO is currently hiring for an Electronics Engineer. This position will be located in North Charleston, SC, and will be an onsite position. The Electronics Engineer will be responsible for evaluating electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs while applying knowledge of electricity and materials. The role involves designing electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for various purposes including commercial, industrial, and domestic applications. Additionally, the engineer may analyze systems and processes, including heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamic principles, to identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements. The engineer will confirm the capabilities of systems and components by designing testing methods and testing properties. Quality assurance is a key aspect of the role, which includes designing electrical testing methods and testing finished products and system capabilities. The engineer will operate computer-assisted engineering software, prepare and study technical drawings, and perform detailed calculations to determine the standards and specifications necessary to complete projects. Furthermore, the engineer may prepare product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Formal electronics training is required, which includes skills in installation tasks, soldering, cable dressing, cable tray, conduit, and making/repairing connectors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 - 8 years of experience or commensurate experience.
  • 5+ years of practical experience in electronics repair, maintenance, installation, and checkout.
  • 2 years of experience in supervision and shop practices.
  • 3 years of practical experience in electronics repair and installation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of a four-year electronics apprentice program.
