About the position

The GMS Application Engineer-Markets role focuses on providing support for Market Management Systems (MMS) applications, including Security Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED), Day-Ahead Market (DAM), and others. The engineer will be involved in the design, development, testing, validation, and implementation of modifications and enhancements to these applications, ensuring they operate effectively and meet regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Understand and apply principles, theories, and concepts related to the profession and Client's culture.
• Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
• Respond to inquiries and provide assistance and guidance to lower-level workers.
• Perform all work according to applicable rules and regulations, including regulatory requirements and organization policies and procedures.
• Be a member of the 24/7 Market Applications Engineering support on-call team and troubleshoot market applications and system on-call issues.
• Assist in proactive enhancements, improvements, and issue remediation.
• Coordinate application setup and testing with QSEs, LSEs, REs as appropriate.
• Perform MMS model load testing periodically and update model data in real-time based on established procedures.
• Design and test MMS interfaces and web & client/server application changes.
• Verify and support MMS applications during system site failovers, server/system/database upgrades, and patching.
• Support the execution of Disaster Recovery Drills and business continuity procedures.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair MMS applications and interfaces, escalating as appropriate.
• Provide on-the-job training or help oversee the work of other engineers/analysts.
• Act as a consultant, representative, and subject matter expert in projects and activities affecting the MMS environments and applications.
• Participate in multifunctional teams to obtain input, address comments, and provide application support.
• Represent the Market Applications Engineering Team at interdepartmental and stakeholder meetings.
• Work independently on assignments and projects.
• Assist in developing tools, processes, and procedures that enhance system reliability and departmental/organizational efficiencies.
• Participate with other client departments to select and implement system changes as needed.

Requirements

• Understanding of Market Management Systems (MMS) applications and their functionalities.
• Experience in design, development, testing, and implementation of software applications.
• Ability to troubleshoot and provide support for market applications.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to market applications.
• Experience in coordinating application setup and testing with various stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Security Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED) and Day-Ahead Market (DAM) applications.
• Familiarity with disaster recovery drills and business continuity procedures.
• Experience in mentoring and training less experienced engineers/analysts.
