About the position

The Senior Power Systems Engineer will be responsible for leading the development of LASER Electrical Power Systems for space flight applications. This role involves overseeing architecture development, managing engineering teams, and ensuring the successful implementation of cutting-edge power electronics technology for spacecraft. The engineer will serve as a technical expert, guiding projects from conception through to execution, while fostering a culture of diversity and innovation within the team.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate engineering teams for LASER Electrical Power Systems development.
• Evaluate electrical power systems for various projects and programs.
• Direct the specification, manufacturing, and procurement of advanced technology for energy conservation devices.
• Serve as a technical expert in planning and implementing LASER Instrument Electrical Power System electronics.
• Conduct technical analysis and development studies for major science programs.
• Oversee contractor activities and act as a technical specialist in power system development.
• Participate as a Subject Matter Expert in internal and external reviews and assessments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, or Computer Science from an accredited institution.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level, including leading multidisciplinary teams and managing technology projects.
• Experience in project management throughout the project lifecycle, including cost and schedule control.
• Laboratory research experience in troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing issues related to LASER Power Systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with optoelectronic device driver technologies.
• Familiarity with spacecraft bus power impacts and energy conservation storage devices.
