About the position

The Electrical Engineer position at AECOM in Tampa, FL, is focused on providing engineering and design services related to buildings, facilities, and site practices within the Buildings + Places (B+P) organization. Responsibilities

  • Serve as an electrical engineer on various building and facility project types, including mid-to-large size projects.
  • Organize workload in partnership with the Manager and work collaboratively and independently on project-specific design tasks.
  • Perform quality control reviews of work developed by others.
  • Provide technical input to studies and design assessments for the benefit of clients and teams.
  • Respond effectively to scope, schedule, and budget in collaboration with project managers and senior team members.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Revit for delivering design.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff on specific technical design aspects and professional service.
  • Provide direction for prescriptive and performance-based specifications.
  • Participate in the development of technical proposals, including estimates for engineering budgets and schedules.
  • Review permitting agency/engineering standards and regulations for project design and permitting applications.
  • Collaborate with other departments within AECOM, including civil, building engineering, architecture, and landscape architecture, to provide value in project opportunities.
  • Support site field investigations and construction-related activities.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Engineering plus 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent education/experience.
  • Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in Florida or ability to register for the PE Exam within 6 months.
  • Experience in building and facility design projects and site design.
  • Experience preparing calculations and design documents (reports, plans, specifications).
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Experience with industry software for electrical calculations.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting projects, clients, and teams.
  • Valid US Driver's License required.

Nice-to-haves

  • 6 years of experience in electrical engineering and building development projects.
  • Experience in electrical design for various building types.
  • Experience with permitting projects with local authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Experience in planning and organizing tasks and teams for project schedules.
  • Experience in large and/or complex projects, including government and civic projects.
  • Experience with construction phase services for projects.
