About the position

The Electrical Engineer position at General Atomics focuses on the design and development of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), electrical cables, and wire harnesses within a fast-paced Research and Development environment. The role involves collaboration with the Electrical Engineering team to support the engineering of advanced technologies, including High Energy Laser Systems and space-based optical communication systems. The successful candidate will engage in concept development, prototype design, and integration, contributing to both new and legacy systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work with GA-EMS Electrical Engineering staff in the concept development and prototype design, integration, and test of printed circuit boards, electrical cables, and wire harnesses.
  • Demonstrate interest and capability in the improvement of legacy systems and development of new systems.
  • Support electrical engineering solutions for project needs, perform electrical engineering analyses for systems and circuits, document findings, communicate results, and make technical presentations to project staff.
  • Contribute to electrical engineering efforts as directed by project leaders.
  • Apply basic technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned routine engineering problems under general supervision and with on-going review.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to obtain a Security Clearance is required.
  • Desirable Experience: Electrical cable design; basic systems-level diagramming; circuit board design; packaging and integration of electrical systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cable and harness design software, PCB design software, Solidworks 3D CAD, and Solidworks Electrical for harness design, MS Visio, MS Excel.
