As our global footprint continues to grow, we are looking for an Electrical Engineer with a strong technical background to join our CMIT team. This position is HYBRID and requires individuals to be on-site 3 days a week, in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. UL's Consumer, Medical and Information Technology (CMIT) team is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer with experience working with ITE Products to join our team! Duties in this role include, but are not limited to determining project scope, developing a preliminary plan of investigation, and determining project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing client input, available supplemental data, and product construction. Projects may include travel to conduct or witness tests at client sites. The Electrical Engineer will initiate communication with clients to promote and explain the benefits of new and existing services, follow up on contacts from clients, and communicate with clients to discuss technical issues, explain UL procedures and requirements, convey project cost, and negotiate completion date and sample requirements. The role also involves addressing client concerns and resolving client issues, providing technical assistance to clients regarding product inspection and follow-up services, and establishing appropriate test programs by reviewing files and manufacturer's information, examining samples, and applying UL requirements. The Electrical Engineer will be familiar with applicable standards, company manuals, and appropriate technical literature. They will examine samples for compliance with UL requirements and notify clients of any areas in which the product is not in compliance or of any changes in project scope or specifications. Additionally, the role includes coordinating laboratory activities by preparing data sheets and instructions for technicians, scheduling and reviewing the work of laboratory technicians and engineering assistants, and establishing completion dates. The engineer may serve as Project Handler of record and/or Reviewer of record as assigned, communicate project status and results to clients through frequent contact and by preparing reports, and prepare Follow-Up Service Procedures and information pages. The role integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job, resolves engineering issues associated with Variation Notices, assists in the development of UL requirements, and may represent UL at industry-related functions such as seminars and trade shows.
