About the position

Collins Aerospace is seeking an Electrical Engineer Co-op to join our Avionics Test Engineering team in Melbourne, Florida. This position offers a unique opportunity for students pursuing a degree in engineering to gain hands-on experience in the aerospace industry while completing their studies. As part of a global engineering organization, you will be involved in the design, development, and maintenance of manufacturing test solutions that support our $5B Avionics strategic business unit, as well as external customers including armed services and airlines both domestically and internationally. In this role, you will learn to troubleshoot technical and electrical device problems, operate engineering software and equipment, and collaborate with stakeholders on various engineering projects. Your responsibilities will include providing support to Factory and Service centers during breakdowns of test stations, completing drawing designs, and performing engineering work that involves applied research, development, and design for new products. You will also develop new test solutions to support the Collins Production environment, which tests new avionics products both functionally and environmentally. As an Electrical Engineer Co-op, you will design, analyze, test, integrate, and document hardware of moderate complexity. You will work closely with other engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, software, and systems engineering, to ensure that the electrical design aligns with the overall project and product design approach. This position is onsite, allowing you to gain valuable exposure to leadership at all levels and tailored career growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to Factory and Service centers on the Test stations during breakdowns.
  • Complete drawing designs as required and operate engineering software and equipment.
  • Confer with stakeholders regarding engineering projects.
  • Perform engineering work and applied research, development, and design for new products to meet quality standards and functional objectives.
  • Develop new test solutions to support the Collins Production environment for testing new avionics products.
  • Design, analyze, test, integrate, and document hardware of moderate complexity.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure appropriate electrical design for projects.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status).

Nice-to-haves

  • Software skills in C++, Labview, and C# are a plus.
  • Open to working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer facing/support experience is a plus.
