As an Electrical Engineer, EIT, you will play a crucial role in designing and specifying electrical systems for municipal and industrial water/wastewater treatment facilities, including drinking water plants, sanitary sewer plants, and refineries. This position offers the opportunity to work with high-performing teams who are dedicated to solving complex challenges in water, environment, infrastructure, resource management, energy, and international development. In this role, you will assist in the design of various electrical systems, including low and medium-voltage power, lighting, SCADA and process controls, voice/data communications, fiber optics, emergency power systems, UPS, security systems, CCTV, and fire alarm systems. You will collaborate closely with senior engineers and project teams throughout the design process, from concept to completion, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary standards and requirements. Your responsibilities will also include modifying and reviewing production drawings for water, wastewater, and industrial applications under the guidance of senior engineers. You will support the preparation of electrical studies, such as power supply, short-circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies, and conduct field inspections and measurements for both public and private clients. Additionally, you will assist in developing cost estimates for electrical systems during various project phases and provide support during construction administration, including reviewing submittals and responding to RFIs. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design of electrical systems for municipal and industrial water/wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and project teams on electrical system designs from concept to completion.
  • Modify and review production drawings for water, wastewater, and industrial applications under the direction of senior engineers.
  • Support senior engineers in preparing electrical studies, including power supply, short-circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies.
  • Conduct field inspections, measurements, and assist with calculations for public and private clients.
  • Help develop cost estimates for electrical systems during different project phases.
  • Provide assistance during construction administration, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and helping with change order reviews.
  • Participate in cross-disciplinary collaboration with teams from multiple office locations.
  • Learn from and support senior engineers in mentoring assistant-level engineers and improving technical skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Successful completion of FT/EIT is required.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, REVIT, Plant 3D).
  • Familiarity with SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower.
  • Familiarity with AGi32 or Visual.
  • Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Application of codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA 820, NFPA 70E, or ISA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
