This position will have accountability and responsibility for the continuous improvement of electrical equipment and support systems with the objectives of safe operation and elimination of repetitive failures. The role is dedicated to the engineering function and will focus on the application of technical skills and ingenuity required in the analysis of plant electrical equipment and related systems. The equipment and related systems consist of, but are not limited to, large generators, motors, variable frequency drives, precipitators, transformers, switchgear, relays, batteries, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), balance of plant electrical systems, backup battery systems, and ancillary support systems. The essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, serving as the System Owner on assigned electrical equipment and being a Subject Matter Expert on NERC standards related to that equipment. The individual will coordinate assigned electrical-related maintenance and repair projects for both scheduled and unscheduled work necessary to maintain and/or improve the reliability and capacity of the plant. Maintaining the general health of assigned electrical equipment and related systems is crucial, as is evaluating and implementing modifications as requested and approved to ensure budgeted capacity, availability, and equivalent forced outage rates of the facility. Additionally, the role involves developing and/or reviewing the Planned Maintenance (PM) activities of assigned electrical equipment and systems to ensure all PMs are consistent with the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) philosophy. The individual will lead and/or participate in any plant Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) processes involving or related to electrical equipment and related systems to ensure corrective actions, repairs, and modifications are appropriate and timely in their execution. Project management for plant projects or outages will also be a key responsibility, including the development of contract work scopes, assembly of budgets, and contractor oversight for assigned electrical equipment and related systems. The position requires working with and training electrical maintenance and plant operations personnel in the most reliable, safe, and efficient methods of electrical equipment and system maintenance and troubleshooting. Maintaining assigned electrical testing and history records for the facility, keeping equipment documentation current, including all drawing and SetRoute (cable management system) revisions, is also essential. The individual will work with vendors as needed to ensure all electrical drawings are up to date and provide technical expertise, leadership, and assistance to Operations and Maintenance Departments as needed, as well as for ancillary improvement projects as assigned. The ability to read and understand electrical schematics, one-lines, and connection drawings is necessary, along with determining and maintaining an adequate stock of spare parts for assigned equipment. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
