About the position

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a diverse team focused on developing innovative solutions for complex defense-related problems. The role involves working on the Test Instrumentation & Lethal Mechanisms Portfolio, which includes Fuzing Systems, Proximity Sensors, and telemetry systems for various military applications. The engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of electronic hardware, supporting both existing and new product launches.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test complex electronic hardware for defense applications.
• Support manufacturing teams for existing products and assist in launching new products.
• Lead design efforts on new or existing products and bring them to market.
• Provide oversight, mentoring, and training to junior engineers.
• Integrate diverse technology areas including electronic design and system integration.

Requirements

• BSEE degree plus 12+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in concept development and circuit design for various products.
• Proficiency in using Mentor Graphics or similar E-CAD schematic capture software.
• Ability to debug electronic hardware with standard laboratory equipment.
• Experience in product manufacturing support.
• Experience designing products for military systems and familiarity with military standards.
• Must be a US citizen and a resident of Huntsville, Alabama, or willing to relocate.
• Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with Altium schematic capture and PCB layout E-CAD.
• Experience designing and testing Electronic Safe & Arm Devices (ESAD) and Ignition Safety Devices (ISD).
• C programming abilities for embedded micro-processors.
• GUI development for test interfaces using Python, LabView, etc.
• Excellent communication skills.
