About the position

The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the development of Electrical System Command and Data Handling architectures and Mixed-Signal/High-Speed Digital circuit designs at General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems. This role involves working in a fast-paced product development environment, focusing on high-power processing and controls solutions for various advanced technologies including satellites, high-energy laser systems, and aerospace sensors. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering teams, manage technical efforts, and represent the company in technical matters.

Responsibilities

  • Work with GA-EMS Engineering staff and chief engineers in the concept development and prototype design, integration, and test of high-power processing and controls solutions.
  • Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives for engineering systems, projects, and programs.
  • Demonstrate prior experience in the improvement of legacy systems and development of new systems.
  • Generate electrical architecture solutions for new project needs and perform electrical engineering analyses for systems and circuits.
  • Function in a leadership role for a project/program and provide planning, direction, and oversight to less experienced professional staff.
  • Formulate multi-year plans and coordinate solutions development and deployment.
  • Evaluate the integration of engineering solutions within the overall engineering environment.
  • Plan for future applications of solutions based on new developments in engineering technology.
  • Develop new and expand existing business opportunities.
  • Communicate with colleagues and management throughout solution development and deployment cycles.
  • Represent the company as a prime technical contact on contracts and/or projects.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree, master's degree, or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Twelve or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree, ten or more years with a master's degree, or seven or more years with a PhD.
  • Active DoD Security Clearance is required.
  • Experience in electrical system command and data-handling architecture and technical team leadership.
  • High-speed digital circuit design and embedded processing and controls experience.
  • Analysis, design, and implementation of hardware systems including digital, analog, and RF.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Altium PCB Design Software.
  • Experience with PADS PCB Design Software.
  • Familiarity with SPICE circuit simulation tools.
  • Experience with HyperLynx Signal/Power Integrity tools.
  • Experience with ANSYS Signal Integrity tools.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Tools and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience in high-reliability aerospace electronics and electrical systems.
