The Aptiv Connection Systems Team is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the North America Product Engineering Team, located in either the Troy Technical Center in Troy, MI or the Champion Technical Center in Champion, OH. This role is integral to the Consumer Connectivity product portfolio, where the successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and validating electronic products that align with OEM requirements. The position involves working with a variety of circuits, including switch mode power supplies, inverters, power switches, LVDS transceivers, HDMI receivers, USB hubs, embedded MCUs, audio/video codecs, and wireless communication links based on RF standards such as 802.11n, Bluetooth, Qi, NFC, and GSM. In this role, the Electrical Engineer will collaborate directly with automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to ensure that products meet customer functional, EMC, and electrical requirements. Responsibilities include developing product schematics using schematic capture software, overseeing PCB layouts, conducting peer reviews, and creating change documentation for engineering changes. The engineer will also be tasked with developing new circuit building blocks, evaluating new components, and providing cost analysis of the Bill of Materials (BoM) and component cost tradeoffs in collaboration with supply chain management. The successful candidate will negotiate design validation plans with customers and manage their execution at test labs. They will conduct detailed benchmarking, competitive analysis, and cost-tradeoff analysis for their area of responsibility. Additionally, the engineer will perform simulations, worst-case circuit analysis, and FMEAs to verify robust performance, as well as bench-level debugging, testing, and prototyping. Risk assessments and root cause analyses of product performance deviations will also be part of the role, utilizing standard practices such as fault tree analysis and fishbone diagrams. The Electrical Engineer will complete necessary documentation for the Aptiv product development process flow and work with the validation team to develop proper equipment and processes for Design Validation (DV) and Product Validation (PV). Participation in design process audits for adherence to IATF process standards is expected, along with mentoring other Electrical Engineers in best practices and industry standards. The role also involves creating and conducting technical presentations to explain and promote new product designs, while supporting cross-functional teams including software, mechanical, systems engineering, ECAD, MCAD, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain management.
