About the position

As an Electrical Engineer on Olsson's Facilities Engineering and Design team, you will be responsible for designing innovative solutions specifically tailored for the healthcare sector. This role requires a licensed Electrical Engineer who is adept at applying standard engineering techniques and procedures while exercising sound judgment to make necessary adaptations and modifications. You will play a crucial role in generating ideas and creating designs that adhere to the highest standards of quality and efficiency for healthcare facilities. Your contributions will directly impact the success of various healthcare projects, ensuring they meet the needs of the communities they serve. In this position, you will perform a variety of engineering duties related to evaluating, designing, and constructing plans for healthcare projects of varying sizes. You will assist in preparing project documents while maintaining a thorough understanding of project scope, schedule, and budget. Your responsibilities will also include conducting process design calculations, analyzing reports, and preparing cost estimates to assess project feasibility. You will leverage your knowledge and experience with standard techniques, methods, and procedures to assist in coordinating various aspects of project design. Effective communication is key in this role, as you will be responsible for updating project managers and clients on development and progress. You will also enter and maintain project information and client records in the firm's project management system. Evaluating and proposing adaptations to standard methods and procedures for components of assignments will be part of your duties, as well as providing technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members when necessary. This position offers multiple office locations, including Lincoln, Omaha, Des Moines, Denver, and several others, allowing for flexibility in your work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various engineering duties related to evaluating, designing, and constructing plans for small to large-sized healthcare projects.
  • Assist in preparing project documents and maintain knowledge of project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Conduct process design calculations, analyze reports, and prepare cost estimates to assess project feasibility.
  • Apply knowledge and experience with standard techniques, methods, and procedures to assist with coordination of project design aspects.
  • Communicate project development and progress with project managers and clients.
  • Enter and maintain project information and client records in the firm's project management system.
  • Evaluate and propose adaptations to standard methods and procedures for components of assignments.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members when necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • A minimum of 4 years of electrical engineering experience, with at least 2 years specifically in designing for healthcare projects.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Enthusiasm for contributing to the healthcare industry through innovative and reliable electrical engineering solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Healthcare-related certifications, such as Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) or Healthcare Physical Environment Worker, are a plus.
  • Membership in a state or national chapter of the American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) or equivalent is advantageous.
  • Experience with National Codes/Standards development and participation in relevant committees is highly preferred.
