About the position

The Electrical Engineer - High Voltage System Function Test role focuses on executing electrical vehicle charging performance tests and diagnostics in both laboratory and field environments. The engineer will ensure that electric vehicles meet market requirements by collaborating with teams in Germany and local service providers. This position is critical for maintaining quality standards in testing and reporting according to VW standards.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, confirms, and maintains a database of test routes for field drives based on destination and/or test features.
  • Organizes test plans (static and dynamic) and coordinates with the interested participants.
  • Executes all phases of the test and evaluation from planning, vehicle preparation, test execution, results documentation and follow up.
  • Provides documentation (failure report, vehicle protocol, network traces) on electrical communication errors during production or vehicle launch phases.
  • Uploads documentation to the central database and follows up directly with responsible engineers for resolution.
  • Provides local support for necessary improvements/changes regarding electrical vehicle applications for the North American region.
  • Maintains a fleet of test vehicles with the latest software and hardware levels.
  • Maintains test benches and simulators with the latest levels and preparation for testing activities.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience with vehicle system or sub-system testing, or 2-3 years of vehicle control systems bench test and evaluation experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering - required.
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering - desired.
  • Technical understanding of vehicle control systems, especially energy systems and powertrain control systems.
  • Understanding of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Fundamentals.

Nice-to-haves

  • German language proficiency.
  • Understanding of vehicle communication protocol (CAN).
  • Experience with vehicle function troubleshooting and diagnostics.
