About the position

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their Transmission and Distribution group within the Energy practice. This role involves supporting electrical engineering design work for various projects, focusing on high and medium voltage systems. The position offers flexibility to work remotely or from various AECOM offices across the United States, and aims to promote the company's engineering skills to new clients while maintaining existing relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Support electrical engineering design work on assigned projects under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Assist in the development of power system studies including load flow, short circuit, protective coordination, and arc flash analysis.
  • Create one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and panel layouts.
  • Conduct arc-flash hazard calculations to determine boundaries and required PPE.
  • Develop construction and equipment specifications and plan drawings such as grounding plans and cable tray plans.
  • Prepare electrical lists including cable and conduit schedules, load lists, and equipment lists.
  • Perform calculations for grounding analysis, cable sizing, conduit sizing, and transformer sizing.
  • Support projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning, including field walkdowns and data gathering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
  • 2 years of relevant high or medium voltage transmission, distribution, and/or substation experience.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification or ability to obtain FE certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, NFPA).
  • Exposure to California Electric Utilities and retrofit or brownfield projects.
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.
  • Field experience and power systems analysis software experience (SKM, EasyPower, Etap).
  • Experience supporting renewable generation projects.
  • Success in working with remote teams.
