About the position

The Electrical Engineer position at Vanderweil Engineers focuses on designing building infrastructure for large-scale mission-critical data center projects. This role offers opportunities for both mid-level and senior engineers to contribute to innovative projects involving electrical distribution systems, sustainability, and advanced engineering solutions. The position allows for hybrid work, combining onsite and remote work, and emphasizes collaboration with various design team members to achieve project goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects in the production of engineering solutions for large scale and complex data centers (senior position); mid-level will participate but not necessarily lead.
  • Corroborate and coordinate with other design team members including clients, site/civil, and mechanical engineers to ensure electrical systems are integrated with the project's goals.
  • Work with electrical distribution equipment that includes generators, ATS, and UPS.
  • Understand electrical distribution equipment and workspace requirements; general power associated with mission critical data centers and experience with office, laboratories, schools; lighting layout, circuitry, and lighting controls.
  • Utilize Revit to model electrical system components in accordance with departmental and client procedures and standards.
  • Document design calculations and design path decisions.
  • Model electrical distribution systems with analysis software.
  • Create specifications for basic projects.
  • Participate as part of the project team in the production of engineering solutions for large scale and complex building projects.
  • Perform site surveys.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of related experience (mid-level)
  • 10+ years of experience (senior)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Revit knowledge is a plus
  • Understanding of the NEC, IBC, and IECC
  • SKM, AGI 32, and AMPCALC 4 desired
  • LEED accreditation helpful
  • PE or ability to attain is desirable

  • Experience with EV & PV Distribution
  • Experience with clean rooms, labs, or commercial hi-rises
