About the position

The Electrical Engineer I position at Collins Aerospace focuses on supporting the development and enhancement of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) electronics for Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems. This role involves working within a collaborative team to conduct design activities, testing, and interfacing with various engineering disciplines to ensure effective product development. The position is ideal for recent graduates looking to start their careers in aerospace and defense technology.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a small team of hardware development engineers in support of Engineering Change Proposals.
  • Assist in identifying potential replacement COTS candidates and conducting trade studies to select the best device.
  • Perform preliminary and detailed design activities.
  • Conduct testing activities in the lab, including device-level bench testing and integration testing.
  • Interface with other disciplines such as Configuration Management, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Supply Chain.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to access information under this program/contract.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience collaborating with other engineering disciplines.
  • Experience with technical documentation related to Configuration Control and Change Management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience designing with COTS devices.
  • General knowledge of Linux and Solaris operating systems.
