We are seeking an Electrical Engineer I to assume a key role within the Communication Products Hardware Engineering Department in Mission Systems. This Engineer will be involved in the design and development of digital hardware used in high-performance communication products that are critical to the defense of our nation, such as sophisticated software-defined radios and data links designed for use in various ground, airborne, and space applications. This position is onsite, located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In this role, you will perform circuit card design lifecycle activities including requirements capture, schematic capture, design documentation, signal integrity analysis, creation of board stackup and routing instructions, coordination and review of printed wiring board layout, creation of test plans, root cause analysis, and integration. You will design, document, verify, support, test, and troubleshoot digital hardware for communication products using electrical engineering principles and techniques. Designs may include the use of FPGA, processors, and DDR memory components, and industry interfaces, such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART. Collaboration with a multi-discipline team of Engineers will be essential to develop proven hardware designs that meet system performance and operational specifications. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn a variety of skills and concepts in designing circuit cards, including component selection, schematic design, PCB layout, simulation and testing, troubleshooting, and debugging.
