About the position

The Electrical Engineer I - Instrumentation role at Sierra Space involves researching, designing, developing, testing, certifying, deploying, and improving advanced products and services related to space exploration and technology. The position focuses on instrumentation and sensor applications, requiring collaboration across teams to derive data needs, select sensors, and perform data analysis and validation. Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, test, and certify advanced mission payloads and electronic systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to derive data needs and select appropriate sensors and instrumentation.
  • Perform calibrations and data analysis, ensuring verification and validation of hardware and data collection methods.
  • Develop and integrate custom network hardware and conduct network testing.
  • Conceptualize and design new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, with 0-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Conceptual knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Basic understanding of Computer Aided Engineering tools.
  • Familiarity with working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
  • Experience with flight test instrumentation or spacecraft instrumentation.
  • Experience with Data Acquisition System architecture and Data Recording.
  • Practical knowledge of Analog and Digital Sensor functionality, installation, and calibration processes.
  • Experience in programming languages such as Visual Basic and Python.
  • Experience in Database design and SQL.
