About the position

The Electrical Engineer I position is an entry-level role within the Medical & Clean Manufacturing department at KFI Engineers, focusing on electrical power systems. The role emphasizes technical and engineering excellence, customer satisfaction, and collaboration within a dynamic team environment. The engineer will support project execution from concept to completion, contributing to design, documentation, and field support for electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Senior Electrical Engineers to learn and develop design skills.
  • Design medium voltage and 480-volt power systems, including generation and distribution.
  • Create drawings, specifications, and calculations for special systems such as ground fault, lightning protection, engine-generator, UPS, DC, motor control centers, and power factor correction.
  • Prepare engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet codes, standards, and contracted scope of work.
  • Develop standard deliverables including single-line diagrams, plans, schedules, schematics, and details.
  • Prepare three lines and schematic drawings.
  • Perform power system studies, including arc fault hazard analysis, short circuit, load flow, protective device coordination, and harmonics studies using SKM PTW.
  • Review and approve contractor submittals, conduct construction observation, and provide field support during startup and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Develop labor/cost estimates for assigned scope of work and ensure adherence to scope.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Basic understanding of electrical power systems and engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software and tools, including SKM PTW.

  • Experience with medium voltage and 480-volt power systems design.
