About the position

The Electrical Engineer I position at KFI Engineers is an entry-level role focused on electrical power systems. The role emphasizes technical and engineering excellence, ensuring high customer satisfaction through effective communication and collaboration. The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers to develop design skills and contribute to various projects, including the design of power systems and special systems. This position also supports business development efforts by engaging with customers and contributing to proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Senior Electrical Engineers to learn and develop design skills.
  • Design medium voltage and 480-volt power systems, including generation and distribution.
  • Create drawings, specifications, and calculations for special systems such as ground fault, lightning protection, and UPS.
  • Prepare engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet codes and standards.
  • Conduct power system studies, including arc fault hazard analysis and load flow studies using SKM PTW.
  • Review and approve contractor submittals and provide field support during startup and commissioning.
  • Develop labor/cost estimates for assigned scope of work and ensure adherence to budget.
  • Create project plans and schedules for work execution.
  • Support business development through proposals and customer meetings.
  • Provide technical support to other departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical fundamentals.
  • Project experience or working knowledge of Process, Instrumentation & Controls through co-ops or internships.
  • Willingness to learn industry codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, NESC, ANSI/IEEE).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to synthesize ideas into recommendations.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish rapport with customers and stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of computer technology and applications.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
