About the position

The Electrical Engineer position at Pratt & Whitney is part of the Development Operations team, specifically within the Test Systems Engineering (TSE) group. This role focuses on the design, fabrication, and installation of Special Test Equipment (STE) for commercial and military engine testing. The engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement electrical control and data systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards while driving innovation and efficiency in test facility operations.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement test facility electrical control and data systems.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand and define their requirements.
  • Propose and implement cost-effective solutions from initial concept through final design, fabrication, checkout, and system turnover.
  • Identify improvements to Engineering Standard Work during task execution.
  • Frequent interfacing with Engine Project Groups, Purchasing, and external vendors.
  • Collaborate with capital project managers on high and medium power electrical design for new construction/renovation of site facilities.
  • Write request for proposal documents in support of capital procurement.
  • Oversee vendors to ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
  • Apply knowledge of planning requirements, design, integration, and implementation of Power Distribution on site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) certification.
  • Knowledge of electrical relay logic design and motor control center design.
  • Experience using AutoCAD for electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Understanding of compliance codes such as NEC, NFPA 70, and OSHA 510.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools like Six Sigma.
