About the position

The Electrical Engineer II position focuses on the design and validation of electrical and control systems for Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs). This role is integral to the Automated Vehicle Engineering group at Daifuku Airport America Corporation, where engineers are tasked with creating innovative solutions for various applications in manufacturing, warehousing, and entertainment. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise and problem-solving skills, contributing to the development of advanced automated systems.

Responsibilities

  • Execute electrical design of a battery powered industrial AGV/AMR according to established requirements
  • Execute design within budget and scope
  • Define scope of work and description of operation
  • Calculate equipment performance requirements and capabilities
  • Create control and electrical system concept documentation
  • Create control and electrical system design specifications
  • Create control and electrical system schematics and component layouts
  • Create testing and as-built documentation
  • Manage assigned budget, schedule, and scope of design
  • Evaluate and select control and electrical components
  • Engage internal and external teams to ensure control and electrical systems conform to applicable standards
  • Engage internal and external teams to ensure control and electrical systems conform to functional deliverables
  • Engage internal and external teams to evaluate control and electrical system technical risks
  • Engage with internal and external teams to recommend and implement product and process improvement
  • Work with the manufacturing facility to support the build and testing of AGVs
  • Remotely support commissioning team and customers with troubleshooting AGV related problems

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering (Electrical/Mechatronics) or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years direct experience in electrical design
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to read and draw electrical schematics and layouts
  • Experience in troubleshooting electrical systems both in person and remotely

Nice-to-haves

  • AutoCad or AutoCad Electrical (or equivalent)
  • Experience in design of automation equipment including panel design, power distribution, and harness design
  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, ANSI B56.5, UL 583, and ISO 3691 specifications
